In dealing with the challenges of project management, armasuisse Real Estate faces a significant hurdle: critical project data is scattered across various external platforms, complicating the work and oversight of project managers in an already challenging construction environment. To overcome these obstacles, armasuisse Real Estate is exploring the implementation of a comprehensive project portfolio dashboard.
The goal is clear: to create a central hub that seamlessly integrates data from various sources, including Common Data Environments (CDEs) such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Axeo-BIM, BuildAgil, Dalux, and LIBAL CDE, as well as interfaces like SAP and DMS. This dashboard is intended to serve as an all-in-one solution to centrally access and manage various project information.
The solution developed in the proof of concept offers three key functionalities to meet the needs of armasuisse Real Estate:
Firstly, it enables users to access stored data and manage metadata within each CDE, providing a comprehensive overview of information across all utilized project platforms.
Secondly, the dashboard utilizes Esri Map Viewer to consolidate and visualize geo-referenced 3D models of the portfolio. This functionality facilitates centralized interaction with models, enhancing spatial understanding of the project and portfolio environment and enabling further analysis by incorporating additional GIS data for viewing.
Lastly, the dashboard simplifies the management of project financial data and provides insights into project finances. It automates the creation of quarterly reports and seamlessly integrates with SAP to provide accurate and up-to-date financial information for informed decision-making.
The proof of concept has demonstrated that this central hub is a viable approach to mastering future challenging project management in an environment with diverse data sources. By centralizing and integrating data from different sources, armasuisse Real Estate could potentially set new standards in efficiency, productivity, and decision-making, heralding a new era of project and portfolio management.
