Procedurally Generated Apartment Blocks: A Creative Coding Experiment

A few sliders, zero hand modeling: our colleague's side project generates a complete parametric panel building right in the browser.

Change a few sliders, and a whole new apartment block generates itself — windows, balconies, loggias, all of it. No two the same. That's the proof of concept our colleague Jakub Bezdeka built in his own time: a procedurally, parametrically generated panel building.

There's no modeling by hand. You set the rules and the facade builds itself — number of floors, depth and width, the ratio of windows to balconies to loggias, panel gaps, even a random seed so you can reproduce the exact same building or roll a brand new one. Everything regenerates in real time, right in the browser.

And it doesn't stop at geometry. Switch to night mode and the windows light up — with bloom, fog, sun position and a tilt-shift "miniature" look — turning a technical configurator into something that genuinely looks beautiful.

It's a great glimpse of the curiosity and front-end craft on our team — the same people who, among other things, help build ioFM.

The kind of experiment we love seeing: small in scope, big on ideas, and exactly the thinking that keeps our products sharp.
